The Day After

Even while we still reel from the news of Tom Fox's death, we are reminded that there are three other CPT peaceworkers still captive in Iraq, and their fate, as of Saturday March 11, remains unknown. We call for the immediate safe release of Harmeet Sooden, James Loney and Norman Kember.

Meanwhile, violence continued in Iraq. A US soldier was
killed near Falluja Friday, bringing the US military death toll to 2307. Iraqi civilian deaths have been plausibly estimated as exceeding 100,000.

In Washington, the White House announced yet another series of presidential speeches aimed at persuading the American public that the Iraq war is succeeding.

I mourne the death of Tom Fox with millions of others and pray that all remaining hostages everywhere are freed safely very soon.
